About Us
We are
Stanswood
We are an independent beach lifeguard and inshore Rescue service that operates from Calshot beach in Stanswood bay, part of the Solent waters.
The service is run entirely by volunteers including its trustees, operation crew and Lifeguards providing a free service to the community and HM Coastguard. We rely heavily on the donations, grants and contributions that are offered to ensure our equipment and training is maintained to a high standard, ready for operation.
This also goes towards maintaining the building from which we operate from. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us and continues to support us. Your kindness doesn’t just go to supporting our amazing crew, but goes back to helping the greater community too. Please look to our donations page for all the kind supporters and how to donate. A little can make a great difference!
The
Beach
Calshot Beach is well known not only for open water swimmers, bathers, and regular beachgoers, but also as a hub for a wide range of water-based activities. From windsurfers and kitesurfers to kayakers, paddleboarders, and dinghy sailors, the area attracts a diverse mix of users throughout the year. Its unique location along the Solent makes it both a popular and busy stretch of coastline, where changing conditions can present challenges for even the most experienced water users.
Stanswood Beach Rescue is proud to support the safety of everyone enjoying this environment. Our team provides fully qualified lifeguards equipped with surf rescue boards and torpedo buoys, alongside highly trained rescue crews who operate our fleet of rescue watercraft, including a rescue jet ski and inshore rescue boat.
Through regular patrols, training, and event support, we are able to respond quickly and effectively to incidents, offering assistance to those in difficulty both in and out of the water. Our presence not only enhances safety but also promotes awareness, helping beach users make informed decisions and enjoy the coastline responsibly
At the heart of our work is a commitment to protecting life and supporting our community, ensuring Calshot remains a safe place for everyone to enjoy.
