Stanswood Beach Rescue works closely with Hamble Lifeboat to help keep the waters of the Solent safe. Through a strong partnership, both organisations support each other in training, operational exercises, and real-life rescue incidents.

Regular joint training sessions allow volunteers from both teams to develop their skills, practice coordinated search and rescue procedures, and ensure effective communication during incidents. These exercises help build strong working relationships and ensure that when an emergency occurs, both organisations can respond quickly and efficiently together.

During live incidents, Stanswood Beach Rescue may assist Hamble Lifeboat by providing additional shoreline search teams, inshore rescue craft, or local knowledge of the Stanswood and Calshot areas. Likewise, Hamble Lifeboat provides valuable offshore rescue capability and support when incidents require larger lifeboat assets.

By working together, both teams strengthen the overall search and rescue capability in the area, helping to protect those who enjoy the coastline and waters of the Solent.

Stanswood Beach Rescue works closely with the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) to help improve safety along the coastline. NCI volunteers maintain a constant visual watch over the sea and surrounding shoreline from their lookout stations, providing an important extra set of eyes along the coast.

Through this partnership, NCI teams are often able to spot potential hazards, vessels in difficulty, or members of the public who may need assistance. This information can then be quickly passed to the Coastguard and local rescue teams, including Stanswood Beach Rescue, allowing for a fast and coordinated response.

By sharing local knowledge, maintaining good communication, and supporting each other during incidents, NCI and Stanswood Beach Rescue help strengthen the overall safety network along the Solent coastline, working together to prevent incidents and assist those in trouble.

HM Coastguard

Stanswood Beach Rescue works closely with HM Coastguard, who coordinate all maritime search and rescue operations around the United Kingdom.

During an incident, HM Coastguard acts as the central coordination point, tasking the most appropriate rescue assets to respond. This may include Stanswood Beach Rescue, lifeboats, helicopters, and other emergency services. When requested, our volunteers provide local shoreline search teams, inshore rescue craft, and support to incidents along the Stanswood and Calshot coastline.

Regular training exercises and operational collaboration ensure that our team understands Coastguard procedures, communication protocols, and search patterns. This helps ensure that when we are tasked to an incident, we can integrate effectively with the wider search and rescue response.

By working under the direction of HM Coastguard and alongside other emergency service partners, Stanswood Beach Rescue contributes to a coordinated and professional search and rescue network, helping to protect those who use the waters and coastline of the Solent.

Salisbury Lifesaving Club

Stanswood Beach Rescue works closely with Salisbury Lifesaving Club to support the development of lifesaving skills within the community.

Through this partnership, both organisations work together to deliver training in lifesaving techniques, water safety education, and rescue skills. Salisbury Lifesaving Club provides a valuable environment for developing core lifesaving abilities in the pool, including CPR, casualty care, rescue techniques, and teamwork. These skills form an important foundation for volunteers who may later progress into open water and coastal rescue roles.

Members from both organisations also support each other through training, qualifications, and community education sessions, helping to promote water safety awareness and lifesaving skills to people of all ages.

By working together, Stanswood Beach Rescue and Salisbury Lifesaving Club help build a stronger lifesaving community, developing confident, skilled individuals who are prepared to prevent incidents and respond when someone needs help.

ABP Southampton

Stanswood Beach Rescue works alongside Associated British Ports and the ABP Southampton to help improve safety on the busy waters of Southampton Water.

Southampton Water is a highly active commercial shipping channel used by large vessels, ferries, and recreational water users. Due to the scale of port operations, ABP’s primary responsibility is managing vessel traffic and maintaining the safe movement of commercial shipping. As a result, there are occasions where smaller incidents involving jet skis or recreational water users may require additional support.

Stanswood Beach Rescue can assist by responding to reports of people in difficulty on personal watercraft or other small craft, particularly where there may be a risk to life. Our volunteers can also help provide safety advice and engage with water users to raise awareness about the risks of operating in busy shipping areas.

Through communication, shared local knowledge, and cooperative working, Stanswood Beach Rescue supports ABP in promoting safer behaviour on the water and helping educate those using the Solent’s busy waterways.
